About Covenant

Covenant Theological Seminary exists to glorify the triune God by training his servants to walk in God’s grace, minister God’s Word, and equip God’s people—all for God’s mission. While training students from a variety of denominational backgrounds, Covenant is the national seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and an official agency of the church. As such, Covenant maintains a biblical, reformed, confessional, and missional theological identity rooted in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. Acquisitions Coordinator

(Part-Time – 25 Hours)

The J. Oliver Buswell Jr. Library at Covenant Theological Seminary is seeking a service-oriented and collaborative professional to serve as part-time Acquisitions Coordinator working 25 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, research, and present recommendations for materials to be added to the library’s collection.

  • Order and receive materials for the collection, keeping detailed records of expenditures.

  • Process materials in preparation for cataloging.

  • Manage and fulfill interlibrary loan requests.

  • Help maintain a welcoming and professional environment.

  • Assist with basic circulation functions, as needed.

  • Respond to student and faculty questions about the library, including basic reference questions, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school.

  • Interest in, and some knowledge of, the literature of Christian theology, biblical studies, pastoral ministry, church history, Presbyterianism, etc.

  • Analytical, organizational, recordkeeping, and time management skills, and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency with personal computers, the Internet, and library-related applications. Working knowledge of standard office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to build and sustain effective interpersonal relationships with library staff, students, faculty, and visitors.

  • Capacity to adapt to a changing environment and to respond effectively to new needs and priorities.

  • As Covenant Theological Seminary is the denominational seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America, candidates must be passionate about its people, purpose, values, and mission.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an academic library environment, preferably in technical services.

  • Experience with the FOLIO library management system, particularly the acquisitions apps.

  • Experience with OCLC WorldShare ILL.

  • A degree, or coursework, in theology, biblical studies, or a related discipline; or a degree in library science.
